The most important thing to know about Technical Writer, Carolyn Groessl, is that she earned a master's degree in Geographic Information Systems, which means she is professionally qualified to tell you exactly where you are within the matrix.
This unusual skill made her uniquely qualified to drop into the Jungle where her work ethic and voluminous production (wander through her Confluence pages to get an idea of the scope) make September’s Top Banana.
She loves parsing out the complicated feast of interoperability in general, and Health Gorilla’s products in particular into bites of digestible understanding. She is the person in the room who collects all the technical minutia of our products and beyond, then teaches us their place in the totality of what we do and how we do it.
She comes to the jungle with a worthy pedigree having worked for ESRI (the largest GIS software company in the world). While there, she co-authored two books, an achievement she is deeply proud of.
But for all this intellectual bluster and performance, Carolyn Groessl prefers working and living outside of the spotlight. It’s why she spends at least an hour a day walking in her local nature preserve, or tending to her flower and herb garden.
It’s not like she’s pretentious, but she uses that herb garden to compliment her sophisticated palette. When asked her favorite snack, she unhesitatingly answered, “mozzarella di Bufala with heirloom tomatoes and fresh basil.” After explaining the Italian cheese is made from water buffalo (“higher in fat, protein with a rich flavor”), she waved away any pretense. “I live in Wisconsin,” she laughed, “We’re cheese people.”
She hopes to see AI and technology assist humans in being better mammals by enhancing and enriching interactions rather than replacing them.
If you want to find her on her time off, best check the comedy clubs in her area. One of Carolyn’s favorite things to do is to laugh.
